Evaluating the risk of psilocybin for the treatment of bipolar depression

Despite psilocybin's apparent effectiveness in depression, people with bipolar have been excluded from all modern trials.



Given the existing clinical and basic research, epidemiological studies, and published case histories, and importantly the lack of treatment options for depressive symptoms in bipolar disorder, we believe that a cautious approach to conducting trials in bipolar depression with psilocybin therapy.
